Naltrexone Therapy

If you, or someone you love, is looking forward to a future free from drugs or alcohol problems, we’re sure that you’re aware that it will be a very emotional experience. A future without alcohol or drugs gives the individual and those close to them a fresh start, and a chance to live their life without the burden of struggling with addictions. The battle to getting clean can be hard for even the most determined patient, and avoiding temptation and old habits can be difficult. However, there is specialist help available to ensure a long term recovery, Naltrexone therapy. You can get help today, and it’s just a phone call away.

What is Naltrexone?

Naltrexone is a medication which works by blocking the part of a person’s brain called an Opiate Receptor, which demands that a craving is acted on. This means that cravings are significantly reduced. It doesn’t affect the patient’s natural endorphins, and it’s not addictive. If the patient does relapse, it stops the opiate receptors from giving the patient the “high” feeling they might have once got from drugs or alcohol.

How is Naltrexone administered?

There are different ways of administering Naltrexone to someone trying to beat an addiction. The most effective methods are slow release Naltrexone implants. Under local anaesthetic, a tiny pellet of Naltrexone is inserted under the skin, where it slowly dissolves, releasing the controlled dose of Naltrexone required to keep the patient free of their cravings. With the implant in place, there’s no need to worry about taking tablets, so no danger of forgetting or choosing not to take medication.

With the support of Naltrexone, the patient will have a powerful ally in overcoming their cravings, particularly in the first and most challenging weeks of their recovery. With the cravings controlled, they can pay attention to rebuilding their life, and increasing their will power, which will allow them to forget their dependency. With addiction a thing of the past, they can look forward to life the way that they want to live.

There’s no need for anyone to suffer the burden of addiction. It’s so easy to book an assessment, and take the first steps towards an addiction free life. Contact us today, or request a call back, and begin the transition to recovery.
